STEVEN GOMILLION
Steven Gomillion was born in Augusta, GA and moved to New York City at the age of 17 to study music and the arts, after only a few months, he started an internship at Boss Models, It was there that he was introduced to photography by David Bosman, former model and the owner of Boss models. Steven’s experiences as a celebrity photographer helped him develop a keen eye for fashion and pop culture. Working with some major image icons like Jennifer lopez, Rihanna and the Kardashian family to name a few as well as being published in such prestigious magazines such as Vogue, Harpers Bazzar and Cosmopolitan and has had a tremendous influence on his art practice. His early editorial photography caught the eye of Michael Mensi at the Mensi-Rioux gallery of Montreal. Mensi invited him to visit Canada and study under some of Montreal's most prolific artists at the time and it's there where he fell in love with painting. Gomillion continues major success both as a photographer and artist. Gomillion’s paintings fall in the same vein as Edmund Dulac, Lempicka and Salvador Dali. Using mixed materials and techniques on canvas, Gomillion favors oil pastel, acrylic, structural mortar, markers, spray paint, and canvas scraping. His work is included in many collections, both public and private, in the United States and abroad.
